I know, I've been posting a lot lately ... hopefully I don't annoy anyone. :-P But I really wanted to share this article with you:
http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/single-satisfied-and-sent-mission-for-the-not-yet-married
This is one of the best articles I've read on having a productive season of singleness. It's much more practical than most, offering concrete suggestions for things to do and ways to reach out; and without being indulgent or weepy, the author is very understanding of the fact that many of us do want to get married, and it doesn't mean we're any less spiritual than the people who are truly happy with singleness. I strongly encourage you to read it - I can't wait to implement some of the author's suggestions! :-)
I hope all of you are doing well, enjoying the beautiful summer days and staying happy and busy! :-)
Love and hugs,
~ Vicki
THanks for sharing this! I just love Desiring God, but I hadn't checked out their blog in awhile. So I'm glad to have seen this--great article!

That is a good article...thank you for sharing it, Vicki! Much more balanced than many articles I've seen. :)
ReplyDeleteYay summer! Although it's 43F where I am and I'm freezing... :) Do you have any classes this summer?
Thank you for sharing this, Vicki! I hadn't really read anything like this before...I think I've read a lot more of the sappy, more cliche articles and then just kind of blown them off because they weren't practical at all. This, though, like you said, was practical. It also challenges us to take charge of our singleness and use it for God's glory in ways that we may not have the opportunity to as married people, which I like. I agree--I can't wait to implement some of this in my own life.(:

Decked Out in Ruffles
Hello dear Vickie!
ReplyDelete(Wishes I could give you a real hug!)
Thank you for sharing this. I realize how important it is for me to not fall into the mindset of "one day I shall have a family" or "one day I can minister in this fashion" No, that is wrong thinking and my unmarried state is an excellent time to be busy for Christ's kingdom.
Thank you for leaving me such supportive, happy comments. Literally, as I was writing my first announcement post I thought, "Oh, I wonder what Vickie will think?" I wish there was a way I could invite you to visit my favorite antique store and then talk over some coffee. Wouldn't that be lovely?
Love to you, dear! And I am praying for you!!
